Basement Face Lift - Week 1

The day the Young's moved out, the work began!  We tore out the carpet in the basement and began the process of giving the basement a face lift.  So far, the basement face lift has lasted two weeks - and I'm thinking in one more week, we will have a new basement that we will use as our own.  The following pictures are week one of the face lift.  The best part of all of this is that Grandma and Grandpa Watkins came to help us paint for 3 days, and Terie paint for 3 days.  We had some great family time and of course, these kiddos loved having their grandparents here to love on them!

So to me, painting was painting, but my father-in-law has it down to an art form!  WOW!  I learned a lot and my walls in the basement are lookin' pretty nice!  Two things I felt I learned from the experience - when going for a wall color, it is always darker when it's everywhere, so go lighter!  The other item was on the tile, the grout looks darker, but dries a lot lighter, so go darker!  Ha, how is that for advice to my future self?

On Friday night we celebrated Sam's birthday.  Sorry the pic is blurry - BUT - we had so much fun!  Terie made an awesome Cars cake and it was a fun night!

Grandpa and my ice cream monster.  She LOVES ice cream!  She just kept shoveling it in...

Paul, Dena, and Chris sprayed all of the doors, trim and baseboards.  Although I don't have anyone in the full "get-up" it was neat to see!  This is Chris without his long white shirt on, but you get the picture.

Ty was a super helper.  He wanted to use all of the tools and kept himself busy!

Paint, paint, paint your walls, until they shine and gleam!
Rolling, and rolling, and rolling and rolling, the basement will be a dream!

Libby walked through and got paint all over her hands, and then she promptly wiped it on her face and in her hair, and then in my hair and face.  She STILL has paint in her hair....oh well!

My dad came to help us lay some tile in the entryways.  When we ripped up the carpet we realized we need a place to wipe feet if our new carpet was going to look good in the coming years.

So blessed to have the help of Paul and Dena!!!!

Paul and Dena left us Sunday morning right before we headed off to church.  They took this pic as they left!  We sure love and appreciate them coming and helping us day after day!

Sunday afternoon my friends Jenny and Spencer Taylor and their little girl Anna Vee(2 mo younger than Libby) came and had dinner with us.  I met Jenny at BYU-H and just loved her!  Since BYU-H we have both gotten married and started our families.  She was driving thru Utah from AZ and we had a wonderful time together.  We had Ty take the picture...he took like 8 and this was the best one....lol.

This is a pic of my spunky Libby!  She is really great at saying NO!  And screaming at her brother!  She LOOOOOOVES animals, birds, etc  and is starting to get picky about what she eats.  Three more weeks and she is in nursery!
