Happy Birthday Grandma Ruth!

We were invited to dinner today at Aunt Denise's home to celebrate Grandma Watkins' birthday. It was SO WONDERFUL! We ate biscuits the way she would prepare them, pickled beets, fresh sliced tomatoes, dill pickles, and apple cake. That's not all that we ate-there was a roast, potatoes and gravy, green jello for grandpa, corn and much more-but those were the parts of our delicious meal that we learned about that Grandma Watkins would make. We ate on her china, used some of her serving dishes, and had her pink table cloth. There were memories of her on the table, my two favorites were the music boxes and the pictures of her dancing. It was a wonderful occasion and most notably so when Grandpa made mention of her watching us celebrating down here-we felt her love-and Grandpa was as pleasant as ever. He made mention that she would boss him around all of the time and that he never minded such a cute wife bossing him around-I hope Chris feels that way after many years of marriage! We are thankful for the family that we have here in Utah (and for those that are far away) and for the rich heritage that we are blessed with. Happy birthday Grandma Watkins!

Side note: When Jim brought out the ice cream to eat with the apple cake, Grandpa saw it and said, "Ice SCREEEEEEAAAAM!!!!" We just love how pleasant and fun he is to be around! Mark said he remembers hearing Grandpa tell someone he'd like to be embalmed in ice cream. :)
