There is opposition in all things. There have been many great tools that we have been blessed with; books, magazines, newspapers, tv, radio, and internet. These tools help us in spreading the good news of the gospel all over the world. However, my focus today is the internet. Satan has been using the internet to distract us and ultimately destroy the sacred unit of the family-he’s saturated it with stuff that is simply a waste of our time, to put it lightly. Sadly-that waste of time-can dismiss the Spirit in our homes and in our family relationships at the click of a button.

What is the church doing to combat the saturation of filth that has penetrated the internet? They too, are trying to place a lot of uplifting and edifying content online. It was at my graduation from BYU-Hawaii that Elder Ballard gave the talk about sharing the gospel through the internet. (A link to this wonderful talk is at the bottom of this post-if you haven’t read it, READ IT!) Many of you won’t start a blog about your daily scripture study or post a YouTube video of you bearing your testimony-but I do have a simple request of you that doesn’t require much: If you use Facebook-become a “fan” or a “member” of pages that the Church puts out. Below is a list of a few of them-search them and join them. They post many uplifting videos and messages to help bring the spirit into your day.
The other thing I suggest is when you watch a video or read the posts that they place, look for the little symbol that looks like “Thumbs Up” also known as the “Like Button.” Make sure to “Like” all of these uplifting items as they show up in your Facebook feed. On top of “liking” these items, feel free to click the “Share” and post it to your Facebook profile and it will also show up in your friends Facebook feed. You may wonder why or if any of that really matters-but it truly does. The internet is to a certain extent a popularity contest. When you have a social media engine, like Facebook, where people are actively clicking things that they “like,” it’s actually taken into account by search engines. This means that the more the item is “liked,” the more of a probability it has of showing up in search results and on others Facebook feeds. This is an easy way of helping the church combat Satan on the internet.

***Another thing to do for those who are up to a bit more of a challenge: Go to www.mormon.org and create a profile, it's another great way of sharing the gospel using the internet.
